Streamlight Scorpion HL Flashlight Review

Our video review of the new Streamlight Scorpion HL flashlight is here!  This brand new light from Streamlight builds upon a flashlight design that has been around for 15+ years.  What makes the Streamlight Scorpion HL flashlight stand out as a tactical light is that instead of an aluminum body, the flashlight has a rubber grip cover.  This helps you keep a better grip on the flashlight, and it also won’t transfer the cold to your hand like an aluminum flashlight will.  Another benefit of the rubber grip is that the Scorpion HL can tail stand, a feature that is getting ever more rare in tactical flashlights these days.  Here’s a quick overview of the major performance specifications:

Streamlight Scorpion HL Flashlight

Output: 600 lumens high, 33 lumens low
Run time: 1.25 hours high, 18 hours low
Battery type: 2 x CR123 lithium (non-rechargeable)
Body material: Anodized aluminum with rubber grip
Beam distance: 830 feet (253 meters)
MSRP: $119.95

One of the best features of the new Streamlight Scorpion HL flashlight (besides the high powered LED, of course) is that it offers Streamlight’s TEN-TAP programming.  This makes is easy to choose between the three different program modes – high/strobe/low, high only, or low/high.  The functionality and performance of the Scorpion HL are very similar to the ever popular Streamlight ProTac HL flashlight (600 lumens, high and low setting, etc) with the addition of the rubber body grip.
