New Nitecore HC90 Headlamp Announcement

Lighting brand Nitecore just announced a new addition to their HC series of headlamps, the Nitecore HC90 headlamp.  This will be their brightest headlamp to date, producing 900 lumens in turbo mode.  Like the popular HC50 model, the HC90 will have an all aluminum construction, keeping it well protected from drops and heat build up.  Here are the highlights of the specifications:

Nitecore HC90 Rechargeable Headlamp

Output: 900 lumens turbo, 530 lumens high, 02. lumens lower
Battery type: 1 x 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable or 2 x CR123A lithium non-rechargeable batteries
Run time: 1.75 hours turbo, 2 hours high, 200 hours lower (using 1 x 18650 battery)
Beam distance: 360 feet (110 meters)
Body material: Anodized aluminum

A neat feature of the Nitecore HC90 headlamp is that it has a micro USB port on the side of the headlamp, so you can recharge a 18650 battery inside the flashlight.  The kit will include AC & DC charging transformers as well as the USB charging cord.  The output in turbo mode is regulated for 100 minutes at 95% output, at which point it will drop down to 0% pretty quickly.

Nitecore HC90 Headlamp BeamThe Nitecore HC90 also has a unique switching system.  It has a slide switch that selects between the four brightness levels in white and the red, green, and blue LED.  The HC90 will use a CREE XM-L2 (T6) LED that has a wide 100 degree beam angle, great for working up close or lighting up a large area.

The Nitecore HC90 headlamp is expected to begin shipping in April 2014.  It will be available for purchase on BrightGuy.com.  BrightGuy stocks over 500 different flashlights and headlamps and is an authorized distributor for Nitecore, Streamlight, SureFire, Fenix, Maglite, Princeton Tec, Petzl, LED Lenser, and more.
