Flashlight manufacturer Fenix is debuting a whole slew of new products this fall.  Three new flashlights and one new headlamp – the highly anticipated TK51 flashlight, the PD12 flashlight, the TK22 flashlight in grey, and the HP15 headlamp.  Let’s dive right into to the specs!

Fenix TK51 Flashlight

Output: 1800 lumens max, 10 lumens minimum
Run time: 1.75 hours in turbo, 420 hours low
Battery type: 3 x 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable batteries
Beam distance: 1,394 feet (425 meters)
Beam type: separate spot & flood LEDs

This is probably the most exciting new flashlight in the bunch.  The Fenix TK51 uses two Cree XP-G2 (U2) LEDs in its design – one is centered in the large reflector to produce a spot beam, and one has a much smaller reflector to produce a flood beam.  The TK51 will produce up to 1800 lumens in high, with 900 lumens coming from each LED.  It’s powered by three 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, which is a convenient option for those looking to save on battery replacement costs.

One of the most unique features of the Fenix TK51 flashlight is the three pushbutton body switches.  The top left switch controls the spot LED, the top right switch controls the flood LED, and the bottom switch will turn both the spot and the flood LEDs on at the same time.  You can have any combination of the four brightness levels in spot and flood with up to 16 different variations possible.

Fenix PD12 Flashlight

Output: 360 lumens burst, 200 lumens high, 80 lumens medium, 10 lumens low
Run time: 2.5 hours high, 6.5 hours medium, 60 hours low (Fenix does not give a run time for the “burst” mode)
Battery type: 1 x CR123A lithium battery (non-rechargeable)
Beam distance: 393 feet max (120 meters)
LED type: Cree XM-L2 (T6) neutral white LED
Peak beam intensity: 3600 candela

The new Fenix PD12 flashlight is kind of like the bigger, badder version of the PD22.  It will feature a 360 lumen burst mode using a Cree XM-L2 T6 neutral white LED.  Like the Fenix PD22, the PD12 will run on just a single CR123 lithium battery.  Unlike the PD22, the PD12 will only have a body switch – it will not have a tail switch.  Hopefully this means that the Fenix PD12 will be able to tail stand – I know that is important to many of you flashaholics out there

Fenix TK22 Flashlight in Grey

The Fenix TK22 special edition flashlight with a grey body color is almost identical to the original TK22 (in black) except for one key difference – a new Cree XM-L2 U2 emitter with a neutral white tint.  This new state-of-the-art LED also gives the lumen rating a little boost.  The special edition TK22 in grey is rated at 680 lumens, while the original TK22 in black is rated at 650 lumens.

The Fenix TK22 flashlight is a high-end tactical light with what Fenix calls a “lossless orange peel reflector.”  This means that the beam will be very smooth, with an even transition from the center hotspot to the outer spill light.  For more information of flashlight beams, check out our Flashlight Beams 101 video.

Fenix HP15 Headlamp

The new Fenix HP15 headlamp is a modern, high-powered headlamp that will take the place of the popular Fenix HP11 headlamp.  It’s designed to be used by outdoor sport enthusiasts and search and rescue professionals.  Aside from being incredibly bright at 500 lumens, the Fenix HP15 has a long range beam that will reach over 500 feet.  For a compact headlamp running on AA batteries, this is a very long distance.

The switch interface on the Fenix HP15 headlamp has been redesigned, so now every mode is controlled by a single button.  This should make operation easier especially with gloves on.  While it does have molded plastic accents, the main body of the Fenix HP15 is made of aluminum.  This makes it more durable and more able to absorb the heat coming off of the LED.
