Pelican 2740 and 2750 LED Headlamps

Flashlight manufacturer Pelican just announced the addition of 2 new LED headlamps to their ProGear series of lights – the 2740 and 2750 LED Headlamps.  Both of these headlamps are designed for outdoor use, and would be great for camping, hiking, biking, running – basically any outdoor activity!  Let’s take a closer look:

Pelican 2740 LED HeadlampPelican 2740 LED Headlamp

Output: 35 lumens high, 13 lumens low
Run time: 20 hours high, 51 hours low
Battery type: 3 AAA alkaline
Focus type: Flood
Body Color choices: Black, Blue, and White
MSRP: $25.95

While the Pelican 2740 headlamp doesn’t have the highest lumen rating, it would make a great general use light with its broad lighting pattern and long run times.  The two different brightness levels allow you to choose whether you want to maximize brightness or extend your run time.  The Pelican 2740 headlamp runs on 3 AAA alkaline batteries that are housed right in the head of the light (not in a separate battery pack), so that makes it more comfortable to wear and easier to store.  The Pelican 2740 is IPX4 rated for water resistance, meaning it’s safe to use in basically all weather conditions.

Output: 100 lumens high, 40 lumens low
Run time: 3.75 hours high, 12 hours low
Battery type: 3 AAA alkaline
Focus type: Spot
Body Color choices: Black, Yellow, and White
MSRP: $35.95

The Pelican 2750 headlamp is the high performance model.  It has a single white LED that produces 100 lumens in high, in addition to a single red LED to preserve night vision.  The Pelican 2750 also has a flashing mode that can be used for signaling, with a run time of up to 6 hours.  Like the 2740, the 2750 headlamp runs on 3 AAA alkaline batteries that are compact while still being powerful.  The head of the 2750 (and the 2740) will tilt 45 degrees, so you have better control over the direction of the beam.
